Kady Brink is a senior in the Applied Exercise Science program at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ. But when she’s not in the classroom, you can probably find her training as a BMX racer. Brink’s love for BMX racing has created opportunities for her at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ and around the world. She explained that she chose her major because of her connection to racing. “I want to learn more about training, recovery, and injury prevention, so I can help others become stronger and healthier,” she said. “This major lets me combine my love for sports with the knowledge to make a real difference in people’s fitness and well-being.”
Brink’s BMX journey is one she describes as “one of the most rewarding experiences” she’s had. She has competed around the United States and abroad. Her accomplishments continue to grow. “I’ve won five state championship titles, four Northeast regional titles, and have earned titles as a national champion, national No. 3, and a two-time national No. 9 in my age class,” she said. “I recently earned my USA BMX coaching certification with the goal of giving back to the sport that has given me so much and sharing my skills and knowledge with younger riders.”
Her commitment to service and giving back extends beyond racing. One of Brink’s favorite memories at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ is GIVE Day. Each year, hundreds of students, alumni, faculty, and staff come together for a day of service in Erie, Ruskin, and around the world. GIVE Day is ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ’s invitation to volunteer everywhere. “It was such a fulfilling experience, knowing that our efforts were making a real difference,” Brink said. She explained that GIVE Day shows ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ’s commitment to serving others. “It was a reminder of the power of community and how small acts of kindness can have a big impact,” she said. “It’s a memory I always love to share because it reflects the values of compassion and service that ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ instills in its students.”
