Recruitment Resources for Employers

Master of Business Administration

The ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ MBA in Business Analytics is designated by the Department of Homeland Security as a STEM field. This means that students on an F-1 visa are eligible to apply for additional optional practical training (OPT) time after they graduate.

To compete in the global economy, companies need smart, competitively trained, global talent.  Of the approximately 150 students in ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ’s MBA in Business Analytics program, nearly 90% are international.  Academically, they represent some of the brightest talent in the graduate programs of the Dahlkemper School of Business.

Hailing primarily from India, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, most of our international students have already earned a master’s degree in business from their home countries and have professional employment experience.  Their language skills and cultural knowledge are invaluable resources in the expanding and ever-changing global marketplace.

Along with their degree that is nationally accredited by ACBSP, our students are armed with multilingual abilities, cross-cultural insight, and keen business skills that produce results across markets and cultures. These competencies enable them to thrive in international roles and adapt to the evolving demands of global business.

We urge you to get to know our talented pool of international students and consider them for opportunities both in the U.S. and overseas, that align with their backgrounds and qualifications.

There are several ways employers can take advantage of the international talent at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ, both for short- and long-terms.

Work Eligibility in the United States

Most international students at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ hold F-1 visas, and according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), they are eligible to apply for work authorization, to work in the U.S. in positions that relate to their fields of study.   F-1 visa holders (on approved OPT) can work in the U.S. for up to 12 months through the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program; STEM OPT provides an additional 24-month extension of the 12-month OPT for a total of 36 months of OPT work authorization.

INTERNSHIPS: CURRICULAR PRACTICAL TRAINING (CPT)

ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ students with F-1 visas can use CPT to intern full time during the summer months between their first and second year of studies and part time during the school year. With assistance provided from the ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ Office of Global Support, employers just need to document the terms of employment to students, and we can assist them with the remaining steps to obtaining work authorization.  Students are responsible for all application procedures, so this is not a time-consuming process for employers.

THREE YEARS OF OPTIONAL PRACTICAL TRAINING (OPT) WITH STEM

Students holding F-1 visas may be employed full time for 36 months after graduation under STEM OPT. ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ’s Office of Global Support works with students as needed to obtain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) before graduation, so they are ready to work soon thereafter.  Students do not need an offer to obtain an EAD, and employers are only required to complete an I-9 form and provide a standard offer letter for any international hire on STEM OPT.
